Week 3
One meaningful moment I had this week was accidental. I am going to PT now for my knee, and while I was there, I was talking with another patient who finally went on her first hike after 6moths of PT. That got me thinking about how crazy physically and mentally draining these sports are. There is me just starting PT, not being able to walk long distances, then Jon Kraucaur on Everest, and Scott Kelly spending a year on the space station. Some of the effects of space have on the astronaut's bodies Scott described also reminds me of going through PT and how you lose things you always rely on. Also though my injury was not through an extreme sport, how much they risked if something were to go wrong.
I learned specifically from the book Endurance that reading real-life stories/biographies like these is important because, as Scot Kelly did, you may find your passion through a book. The next book I am planning to read is one such story.
Don't leave us hanging...
